Tomorrow night (Friday the 7th at 7:30pm) I will be signing copies of HALLWAY DIARIES at Bermuda Books on Queen Street in Hamilton!
Bermuda Books is the first book store I visited in Bermuda. That’s probably true for so many people because of the store’s location. Tourists can practically walk straight to Bermuda Books after they step off cruise ships parked across the street. It’s a cozy, book lover’s shop stocked with great titles and filled with the charm missing from bigger book chains. Here’s a shot of me standing outside the book store.

Copies of HALLWAY DIARIES have apparently been flying off the shelves at Bermuda Books. The store manager told me she had to order more after they sold out. I’m hoping local high school students will swing by. In the near future, I’ll be making appearances at a few schools to talk to students about writing. It’ll be great to meet kids on the island.
Here’s to a successful and fun signing!

Friends and family have asked me for an update on my scooter saga. I thank everyone for their concern. I can only imagine how cuckoo I sounded to folks I complained to. I’ve never been more fearful-slash-obsessed over anything in recent memory. Well, okay—there was the time I was fixated on squirrels and obsessed with suburban squirrel attack stories. But that’s perfectly normal.
And yes, many times I felt downright silly about my riding phobia. Like the afternoon I stood at the bus stop and saw a 4-year-old zoom by on a scooter. I wish I was kidding. Nevermind that he was sitting in between his dad’s legs. His tiny hands were the only things manning the speeding bike. The pre-schooler was revving the bars and handling the dangerous curves like a pro. His proud papa only pitched in by leaning his body weight to one side for added balance as they approached the tight curve. Oh and dear old Dad did nudge below his baby’s elbow at one point, encouraging the tyke to keep ‘em high for a better handle.
So my update is….I came, I learned how to ride, I returned the scooter. My husband and I talked it over and I decided to become a car owner. So, in the past week I took my written driver’s test—twice (I failed the first time). I took driving lessons and learned about road rules (roundabouts, steer on the right, drive on the left, etc.). Now, my friends, I’m the proud owner of a Bermuda Driver’s License. Check me out on my brand new DL.

Still, nothing beats an evening scooter ride on the island. It’s the best way to take in the shining moon, twinkling stars and breathtaking sights with a nice steady breeze. That’s still my favorite thing to experience…as a passenger sitting behind my husband, of course!
